Cochin Bunkers Private Limited commenced operations in 2013 with the acquisition of two bunker barges. Since then, it has been making last-mile deliveries of fuel oil and HSD for various bunker suppliers in the Port of Cochin.
The company is certified by the Indian Register of Shipping for ISO 9001:2015 for its Capability to Procure and Supply Fuel Oil Bunkers by Barges and at present has two bunker barges. The M V CBL MANNANCHIRA is a 450TDWT fuel oil carrier. It is presently on charter to a bunker supplier. The M V CBL VEMBANAD is a 300 T DWT HSD barge. The vessel is engaged in the supply of white oil to various Navy and merchant vessels in Cochin Port on behalf of Bharat Petroleum Limited and Indian Oil Limited. The company also operates two chemical tankers M V CBL ASHTAMUDI and M V CBL KUMARAKOM for the Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited with which it has a long-term contract for the transport of Sulphuric acid and Phosphoric Acid.
The company intends to grow the chemical transport by coastal chemical tankers by adding to its fleet as and when opportunities arise. As of now, the company has identified several opportunities for the transport of chemicals on the west coast of India.
Cochin Bunkers Private Limited, as a natural extension of the business of barge transport of bunkers to vessels in Cochin Port and at its anchorage, intends to get into supply of bunkers. Consequently, it has drawn up a detailed Quality Management System. The company has tied up with premier oil companies in India like Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Indian Oil Limited for procurement of marine bunkers for supply to ships in Cochin Port and its anchorage. The company has been granted a license to trade in Bunkers by the Director-General of Shipping, Government of India.
